Roblox Parental Controls: How to Set Them Up (2026)

Roblox lets you manage your child's account remotely by linking your own Roblox account to theirs. You can set a daily screen-time limit, choose the Content Maturity level, set a monthly spending limit, control chat and connections, and block individual experiences.

The short answer

Link your own verified Roblox parent account to your child's account, or open More → Settings → Parental Controls in their app and set a 4-digit Account PIN. Then set a daily screen-time limit, choose a Content Maturity level, set a monthly spending limit, and review chat, connections and blocked experiences.

Step 1: Set up the account and parent link

Roblox's minimum account age is 5, and anyone under 18 must create their account with a parent. Accounts fall into age tiers: Roblox Kids (ages 5–8), Roblox Select (ages 9–15), and the standard experience (16+).

  1. Create your own Roblox account. Sign up for your own Roblox account so you can manage your child's settings from your device.
  2. Link to your child's account. Link your account to your child's account and verify your identity with a government ID or a credit card.
  3. Manage remotely. Use the remote parent dashboard on your own device to review and change your child's settings.
  4. Or use the child's app. On your child's device, go to More → Settings → Parental Controls.
  5. Set an Account PIN. Create a 4-digit Account PIN so settings cannot be changed without it.

Step 2: Set a daily screen-time limit

  1. Open Screen time. Go to Parental Controls → Screen time → Manage.
  2. Choose a daily limit. Set the Daily limit. Your child is automatically logged out when they reach it.

Step 3: Choose Content Maturity and block experiences

Roblox labels experiences by content maturity, not by an age number.

  1. Pick a Content Maturity level. Choose Minimal, Mild, Moderate, or Restricted. Restricted experiences are for ages 17+ and require parent permission.
  2. Block individual experiences. Block any specific experience you do not want your child to access.
  3. Use Account Restrictions if needed. Turn on Account Restrictions for a curated-experience mode with tighter access.

Step 4: Set a monthly spending limit

  1. Open spending controls. In Parental Controls, open the spending settings.
  2. Set the monthly limit. Set a monthly spending limit that covers Robux purchases and subscriptions.

Step 5: Control chat and connections

  1. Review chat settings separately. Set Experience Chat, direct chat and voice chat individually. Chat is off by default for younger account tiers.
  2. Review connections. View your child's connections and block anyone who should not be in contact.
  3. Approve Trusted Connections. For children under 13, approve or deny Trusted Connections.

Tip: Starting in early 2026, Roblox uses Facial Age Estimation to gate chat globally, sorting users into six age buckets.

What age is Roblox OK for?

Roblox's minimum age is 5, not 13, and younger users are placed in the Roblox Kids or Roblox Select tiers. Chat is the biggest risk area, so review communication settings carefully.

Common Sense Media rates Roblox for ages 13+. If your younger child plays, keep chat restricted and use the Content Maturity and spending controls.
