How this site works

Editorial policy

A short, plain-English version of how I keep Parents WiredIn honest.

  • I review every tool hands-on, on real devices in our house, before I write about it.

  • There are no affiliate links anywhere on Parents WiredIn and I don't earn commissions when you click through to a product.

  • Every statistic and claim is researched from reputable sources — the eSafety Commissioner, paediatric and medical bodies, peer-reviewed studies and Common Sense Media — and linked so you can check it yourself.

  • Some of what you read here is our experience and honest opinion — how well a parental-control app or a lock-down actually works in practice, our app 'Lockability' ratings, and the 'what I'd do in our house' calls are judgement, not fact. The hard facts — laws, dates, ages, statistics and anything attributed to a body like the eSafety Commissioner — are cited and linked so you can check them yourself.

  • Prices and product features change. I note when something was last checked and I update guides when things shift.

  • If I get something wrong, I fix it — and I'd genuinely like to hear about it. Corrections are welcome.

How we use AI

I'd rather be upfront about this than have you wonder. AI tools help me work faster — reading through research, pulling out what matters and getting a first draft down — but a person is always the one deciding what gets published under our name.

  • I use AI tools to help research, summarise sources and draft articles and guides — and to help build and maintain parts of this site.

  • Every single piece of content goes through a human review cycle. I read, fact-check, edit and approve it, and Jay reviews the technical side, before anything is published. AI assists the work; it is never the final author.

  • Facts get cited. Statistics and claims are checked against reputable primary sources — the eSafety Commissioner, paediatric and medical bodies, peer-reviewed research and Common Sense Media — and linked so you can verify them yourself. I don't publish AI-generated "facts" or invented sources.

  • We stay accountable. However it was drafted, we correct mistakes quickly.

  • In the spirit of the EU AI Act's transparency principles, I'd rather tell you plainly that our content is AI-assisted and human-reviewed than leave you to guess.
